This route wasn’t thrown together: it was mapped out by exploring the surrounding area until the tracks worth riding turned up. The result is 25 to 35 kilometres mixing rugged trails, farmland and stretches of woodland, with the scenery changing every few minutes.

You’ll ride through Portuguese hamlets that look like they stopped decades ago, cross orange and lemon groves and weave between olive, fig, almond and carob trees. In summer, the smell of dry earth and fig leaves is as much a part of the ride as the dust.

Groups of eight: why it matters

The cap is 8 travellers per departure. With a group that size the guide can ride at your pace, tell you what you’re looking at and stop when a photo is called for, instead of dragging a line of twenty quads through the dust. It’s the difference between a guided ride and a mass excursion.

Great for beginners and for riding with children

The route is designed for people who have never driven a quad and for families with children under 12 as passengers. Before setting off there’s full handling and safety instruction, so nobody heads out onto the trail without knowing what they’re doing.

Rugged trails Off-road The first stretches of dirt, with loose stone and changes in gradient. This is where you stop being shy with the throttle.
Hamlets and Portuguese houses Scenery Small villages and old houses, the picture of rural Algarve that the coast has swallowed up elsewhere.
Orange, lemon and olive groves Scenery Riding between citrus orchards and stands of olive, fig, almond and carob trees. Flat ground, ideal for looking up and taking it in.
Woodland trails and back to base Off-road · Wrap-up The final kilometres through the trees and back to the base, with all 25-35 km already in your legs.

Worth knowing

  • Provisional licences are not accepted.
  • No heels. Flip-flops or sandals only if you’re very careful.
  • Best to avoid dresses and skirts: they make riding uncomfortable.
  • There will be dust. Don’t wear anything brand new.
