This is the right dose of off-road: an hour and a half that slots easily into a morning or an afternoon and gets you out of the beach-bar-beach loop. You meet the group, they hand you a helmet, you listen to the safety briefing and from there all you have to do is follow the guide.

The trails keep changing underfoot as you ride through the hills and valleys of the interior, with stretches that give you something to work with and others where you can look up and take it in. Halfway through you stop at Paderne Castle and explore it at your own pace before firing the engines up again.

Who this quad ride is for

It works just as well whether it’s your first time on a quad or you’ve been off-road before: the guides run through the instructions and set the pace to suit the group, which never goes above 20 people. The only serious requirement is bringing a valid driving licence if you want to take the handlebars.
